TARGETED INSPECTION
AND
ASSESSMENT OF SPECIFIC AREAS

An inspection tailored to your technical requirement, focused on areas or anomalies needing particular attention.

Not every situation requires a complete aircraft inspection. Where an anomaly is suspected, an area needs documenting or a specific check is requested, a targeted approach may be more appropriate.

Drone Visual Inspection (DVI) supports aircraft maintenance professionals with automated drone photographic acquisition and Remote Technical Assessment solutions.

Our aim: to focus inspection and analysis resources on a clearly defined scope, providing relevant technical findings that maintenance teams can use directly.

WHAT IS A TARGETED INSPECTION?

Examine precisely what requires attention without routinely extending the work to the entire aircraft.

A targeted inspection involves defining, with the client, an area or anomaly category for a specific search or analysis.

This service can address various situations: suspected damage, an unusual finding, a request for additional documentation or an assessment of a particular airframe section.

WHEN SHOULD YOU CHOOSE THIS SERVICE ?

01 — CHECKING A PARTICULAR AREA

A maintenance team wishes to examine an identified area of the fuselage, a wing or a tail surface.

DVI can assess targeted photographic acquisition to document the relevant surfaces and facilitate technical examination.

02 — SEARCHING FOR A DAMAGE CATEGORY

A suspected dent, scratch, paint deterioration or other visible anomaly requires photographic investigation.

The service can focus on the finding category defined with the client.

03 — EXAMINING AN AREA THAT IS DIFFICULT TO ACCESS

Certain elevated surfaces normally require specific access equipment.

Using a DVI drone enables faster inspection of these areas while reducing the need for specialized access equipment and minimizing risks associated with working at height.

04 — DOCUMENTATION FOLLOWING AN EVENT

Following a particular event, technical teams may wish to document a specific aircraft area.

DVI assesses the possibility of targeted image capture or analysis to support investigations prescribed by applicable maintenance data.

05 — FURTHER ANALYSIS OF AN EXISTING FINDING

A previous inspection identified a defect requiring further examination.

DVI performs a targeted photographic scan of the affected area to better document the defect and provide maintenance teams with additional visual information to support their technical investigations.

WHICH AREAS CAN BE INCLUDED?

Depending on the aircraft, site configuration and system capabilities, targeted inspection may cover:

  • Fuselage: accessible side, upper or lower surfaces.

  • Wings: coated areas, panels and accessible external surfaces.

  • Vertical stabiliser: sections requiring specific documentation.

  • Horizontal tail surfaces: accessible elevated surfaces.

  • Panels and junctions: areas showing a particular visual finding.

  • Other external surfaces: subject to feasibility and a validated acquisition scope.

Each request undergoes a preliminary assessment to confirm the available options.

TWO SOLUTIONS ACCORDING TO YOUR AVAILABLE DATA

TARGETED DRONE INSPECTION

Do you need new photographs of a specific area?

DVI assesses the feasibility of an automated scan of the targeted area, taking into account aircraft compatibility, system capabilities and operational constraints.

TARGETED REMOTE TECHNICAL ASSESSMENT

Do you have a DVI drone at your facility but lack the time or personnel to analyze the photographic data?

DVI offers an additional remote technical assessment service to identify and document visible defects in the images acquired by your drone.

This service allows you to benefit from our technical expertise while reducing the workload of your maintenance teams, without requiring an on-site visit.

HOW DOES THE SERVICE WORK?

01 — Identifying the requirement

The client specifies the aircraft concerned, the area to examine, the context of the request and the findings to be sought.

02 — Assessing data and feasibility

DVI checks the available information and determines whether additional image capture is required or existing photographs allow the analysis.

03 — Defining the assessment scope

We agree the areas concerned, anomaly categories to be sought, operational arrangements and expected deliverables.

04 — Image capture or analysis

Depending on the service selected, DVI performs the planned photographic scan or directly reviews the existing data.

05 — Technical reporting

DVI provides a detailed technical report outlining the visible defects and damage identified during the inspection, supported by photographic documentation.

This data is also accessible through a secure cloud-based platform, offering an interactive 3D view of the aircraft that can be accessed remotely from anywhere in the world.

BENEFITS FOR YOUR MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS

A SERVICE PROPORTIONATE TO YOUR REQUIREMENT

The work is defined around a precise technical objective, without routinely requiring a General Visual Inspection of the entire aircraft.

BETTER CONTROL OF SCOPE

Areas to document, anomalies to be sought and deliverables are determined before the service is commissioned.

SPECIALIST TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

Usable photographs are examined according to the agreed finding categories to provide useful information for maintenance teams.

TARGETED PHOTOGRAPHIC DOCUMENTATION

Images and reports retain a visual record of findings identified in areas actually covered.

FLEXIBLE ARRANGEMENTS

Depending on your situation, DVI can assess a one-off site visit or a remote assessment using available data.

SUPPORTING INVESTIGATIONS

Documented findings can help competent personnel locate areas requiring direct examination or further checks.

TARGETED OR COMPREHENSIVE INSPECTION: HOW TO CHOOSE?

Targeted inspection

Addresses a limited, clearly defined request relating to an area or anomaly category determined in advance.

Comprehensive inspection

Examines several finding categories across a broader scope, under the agreed arrangements.

For a Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) addressing the aircraft's overall external condition, a comprehensive assessment is generally the appropriate solution.

A targeted assessment must not be treated as a general airframe inspection. It covers only the objectives expressly defined in the service.

ASSESSMENT GOVERNED BY AVIATION REQUIREMENTS

Automated inspection and photographic analysis complement maintenance operations.

The quality of findings depends in particular on image resolution, photographic coverage, lighting and surface accessibility.

Some anomalies may require measurements, direct examination, detailed inspection or non-destructive testing.

DVI reports document visible findings within the agreed scope. They do not, by themselves, determine structural compliance or constitute approval for release to service.

Technical and regulatory decisions remain the responsibility of authorised personnel and organisations.

DO YOU NEED A PARTICULAR AREA EXAMINED?

A suspected anomaly, an area that is difficult to access or photographs requiring expert assessment?

DVI helps define an inspection or analysis suited to your requirement.

Tell us the aircraft concerned, the area to examine and your objective. We will assess technical and operational options to propose an appropriate service scope.
